)I met Jade when I pulled a 2021 and slid into her DM's on Instagram. We had recently started following each other (from one photography business page to the next) and I had noticed that her location had changed from Saskatchewan to my bustling metropolis of Merritt! I was excited to see a new photographer in town, whose work I really loved and respected. (For anyone unfamiliar with photographers, we often stake our territory like a bunch of wild hogs, but something inside me was more than thrilled to have her in my photo-territory.)
After my initial DM we chatted back and forth for a while until our schedules aligned to get together and from there the rest is photographer-bud history! I'm very thankful that my DM slide worked and that I gained not just another photographer-bud but a new friend. (Fun fact: we both graduated from the same college, but at different years and never ran into each other when we both used to live in that other bustling metropolis of Vermilion. It's like my DM slide was serendipitous!) Jade came up with the great idea to do a combo shoot, where we'd take turns snapping pictures of each other and boy was that a lot of fun. We cruised out to Windy Canyon and played around with the beautiful evening fall light and I'm more than thrilled with how these images turned out. And I'm excited to see how Jade's turned out. (Make sure you follow here on IG, Facebook and her website.) Jade - I wish you great success with your photos (and general life as a badass!) as you cross back over the great divide and head back to Saskatchewan! I'm thankful we got to meet and spend some time together, even if it was just for a short time. I look forward to seeing you in the flatlands when I head east for a visit! I don’t always photograph subjects that don’t fall under the ranching/agriculture umbrella, but from time to time I photograph other subjects, like my lovely friend Sarah!
Sarah is a fabulous massage practitioner in Merritt & I met her when I first moved to Merritt & booked an appointment with her. Needless to say, I walked away with a happy, relaxed body and a new friend in my new town! I find it to be a great learning experience to play around with different forms of light, if that means with natural light, flash photography, indoors or a combination of all the above. This photoshoot utilized all of those tools and it was great to exercise the ol' marketing photography skills as well! If you ever find yourself in the Merritt area and need a good massage, make sure you look up Sarah! |
