Once Upon A Ranch Wedding - Warkentin Wedding - Rock creek, BC

I think a vast majority of my loyal followers know I stopped doing weddings years ago, due to a variety of reasons, one of which was making the important business decision to niche my artwork to my true passion - the agricultural community! That niche eventually blossomed into my package called Once Upon A Ranch which has included farm or ranch activities such as calving, seeding, harvest, brandings, etc. But this June I decide to come out of wedding photographer retirement and included another activity under the Once Upon a Ranch package - weddings! I had the privilege of snapping images for the lovely Adele and Calen Warkentin!

I've know Adele's family for a few years thanks to my other gig as the Beef Production Specialist with BC Cattlemen's Association (you'll be familiar with their family photos found here), and I was really touched when they reached out to me at the beginning of the year to see if I'd be available to photograph the wedding. Adele can attest to this, that I was a bit apprehensive at first, since I hadn't shot a wedding in years. But after some discussion it wasn't hard to twist my rubber arm and step back into a genre I'd so longed to do and when I first started my photography journey. And boy - did I surprise myself with how much I enjoyed photographing this beautiful and wonderful couple and their family and friends!

The love and respect that both Adele and Calen have for each other is evident, just look at the tender loving moments in the pictures and you'll feel it too. I know I felt it during the wedding and just as much when I began editing photos. 

Weddings can bring up all kinds of emotions and the main emotion that continued to come up during the big day and while editing was love. Pure and simple love, the kind of love that all true romantics and just regular people alike have continued to search for and it's something to be treasured.

Adele and Calen - thank you for choosing me to photograph your wedding. It was an extremely special and fun day for me! And I'm so glad your wedding was the wedding that got me out of wedding photography retirement. I wish you both nothing but love, light and a strong marriage that lasts the tests of time (and ranching! ;))!!
